In chains, still writing

Arrested in Jerusalem, Paul appeals to Caesar as a Roman citizen and is shipped to Rome as a prisoner. The voyage runs into a storm that lasts fourteen days; the crew throw the cargo overboard and give up hope, and the prisoner ends up encouraging the sailors and telling them not one life will be lost. The ship breaks up on Malta and everyone reaches shore. In Rome he is kept under house arrest, chained to a soldier, and allowed visitors. Acts ends without telling us how his trial went, and that is deliberate. The last sentence is about what he was doing: proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance. The letters to Philippi, Ephesus and Colossae were written in that room.
